Ericsson to lead telecom managed services market in 2013, Huawei to become #2: ABI Research

Ericsson will continue to lead telecom network managed services market in 2013, said ABI Research. While Huawei will increase market share, Alcatel-Lucent and NSN will slip.

ABI Research, in a statement said the growth of telecom network managed services market will be flat in 2013 for the major mobile telecom infrastructure vendors.

Based on the first three quarters, ABI Research projects 2013 will end with Ericsson maintaining its market share.

Chinese telecom vendor Huawei will be in the second place position in 2013.

Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN) and Alcatel-Lucent report declines as a result of rationalizing their portfolio of contracts with continuing competitive pressures on this market that already has razor-slim margins, though Q4 revenues could revert positions.

The size of mobile networks managed services delivered by leading infrastructure vendors will be just under $11 billion.

Three vendors in the mobile networks managed services market account for 81 percent of revenues.

Managed Services as a means to bring competitive advantage and revenue enhancement to operators is a growing trend, as the days of simply outsourcing to reduce costs are fading.

Telecom operators are looking to seize any opportunity to maximize margins, and the long term competitive advantages will accrue to vendors who maintain scale and execute.
