Deutsche Telekom reveals 5G network, Capex, revenue growth, ARPU

Deutsche Telekom has revealed its progress on 5G network, Capex, revenue growth and ARPU in key telecom markets in Q1 2023.
Deutsche Telekom network EuropeDeutsche Telekom’s revenue increased 0.3 percent to €27.8 billion. Deutsche Telekom’s service revenue increased 3.5 percent to €22.8 billion.

Deutsche Telekom’s Capex (before spectrum investment) increased by €0.1 billion to €4.8 billion. The increase resulted mainly from higher capital expenditure in the Germany and Europe operating segments. In the United States, Capex decreased as a result of higher cash outflows in the prior year for the accelerated build-out of the 5G network and the integration of Sprint.

Deutsche Telekom’s Capex (including spectrum investment) decreased by €2.3 billion to €4.8 billion. Spectrum licenses were purchased for €0.1 billion, in particular in the United States segment. In the prior-year period, the United States segment had acquired spectrum licenses for a total amount of €2.5 billion.
Deutsche Telekom networks in Q1 2023In Germany, capital expenditure totaled €1.2 billion in the first quarter of 2023, €0.3 billion more than in the prior-year period, allocating mainly for fiber-optic build-out.

In Germany, 5G network was available to 95.1 percent of the population. In Germany, around 5.7 million households have the option of a direct connection to fiber-optic network.

In United States, T‑Mobile’s 5G network covered around 98 percent of the population, with 275 million people benefiting from Ultra Capacity 5G.

In Europe, 5G coverage reached 51.1 percent of the population. In Europe, 8.2 million households have the option of a direct connection to our fiber-optic network.
